Traditional hair removal techniques, such as shaving, tweezing and waxing, provide only temporary relief. Electrolysis, although it can result in lessening hair growth, often requires years of ongoing and frequently painful treatments. Allergic reactions and ingrown hairs are common side effects of all these hair removal methods.
The EpiTouch Alexandrite long pulse hair removal laser is the fastest technique available. The laser moves 5 times faster than any other, and offers 90% effectiveness. This means it is ideal for large body areas, such as men’s backs and ladies’ legs from top to bottom, often in less than twenty minutes. It is great for small areas too, such as bikini line, underarms, and all parts of the face, including the eyebrows. The Alexandrite hair removal laser offers patients the convenience of having laser hair removal treatments in a quick visit – during lunch, for example, with a quick return to their daily routines with out any down time. The Alexandrite hair removal laser removes unwanted body hair without damaging the delicate pores and structures of the skin. The broadest range of skin types and hair colors can be safely treated with the Epi-Touch Alexandrite hair removal laser. In order to ensure the best outcome, you will be asked about your medical history and skin type. We then will design a customized treatment program to ensure the results that meet your expectations.
Published clinical results indicate that treatments with the Epi-Touch Alexandrite hair removal laser substantially reduce hair growth by 90% (depending upon body location).
The multi-center study was based on an average of three treatments to a variety of body sites over nine-month periods, which were then evaluated six to nine months later.
Hair–filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin selectively absorb highly controlled flashes of laser light. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the re-growth potential for the follicle. All without damaging the surrounding tissue.
As with any laser or light based hair removal system, the Alexandrite hair removal laser operates on the principle of selective photothermoloysis. These systems use wavelengths from 680-760 nm to achieve deep penetration through the epidermis and into the dermis where the hair follicles exist. The energy is absorbed by the melanin found in the hair follicle and root, and the heat build-up in the hair shaft results in coagulation of the hair follicle. The Alexandrite hair removal laser wavelength in particular achieves this effect without damaging the epidermal tissue, and is especially gentle with darker skin types, which contain more melanin.
Yes, you can tan. However you will get faster and more optimal results if you watch your sun exposure.
The number of treatments a client needs depends on the individual. Depending on the physiology of the person some will respond quicker than others. Other factors like the color of the hair, the color of your tissue and how well you comply with the treatment protocol. What we look for more than treatment times is how the client is responding, do we see less hair, does the hair have less texture, is there more time in between treatment?
Different areas have different cycles. Upper lip and chin are usually treated every 4 to 6 weeks apart. Other parts of the face are treated 6 to 8 weeks apart. The rest of the body is treated every 8 to 16 weeks.
back to topOn your first visit you will be asked to file out a few forms. After you have completed the forms you will go in for your free estimate and free consultation. If you decide to have a treatment done we will then do a test patch. This will let us know what energy perimeters to use for your particular hair and skin type. Then we can do a treatment. Depending on the area you are doing the entire visit will last about 30 minutes. After that the visits will be around 10 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
During the initial visit, the Alexandrite hair removal laser removes visible hair and disables those follicles in the anagin (active) phase of the hair cycle. The follicles in the teleogen (dormant) phase are not affected by the laser energy. Eventually these dormant hairs will become active and begin to grow, and at this point can be effectively treated. This is why any kind of laser or light based hair removal requires more than one session, over a period of time the hair growth will be slower and finer. Eventually the treated hairs are eliminated.
The process is simple. A thin coat of clear gel (similar to ultrasound gel) is lightly smoothed over the skin, and then the laser pulses are quickly and evenly applied. The laser works by selectively targeting the pigment inside the hair follicle. Each pulse of the laser takes less than a second to disable large numbers of hair follicles without damaging the surrounding skin. Anesthesia is not required, and most individuals experience no more than a slight stinging sensation as the laser pulses are applied. If you do have sensitive nerve endings we do have 2 different products to be applied before the procedure to help reduce the discomfort. Information of these products can be found on our product page. Some parts of the body tend to be more sensitive than others, and sometimes redness or swelling will occur for a few hours afterwards. Unlike other techniques like waxing, tweezing or electrolysis there is no need to suffer though growing out the hair first, although it is helpful to have a days growth to help show the area to be treated.
The laser's unique design offers you an effective treatment for a wide range of hair colors, textures and body locations. Any hair with at least some pigment in it (except red) can be treated effectively.
Side affects are rare due to our highly trained staff. You may experience some slight reddening or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically goes away within hours. Limiting sun exposure before and after each treatment will minimize the risk of complications. Following the treatment, you can generally return to work and resume all regular activities immediately.
back to topYou can trim the hair to the skin surface or use a depilatory. We would prefer you not to shave, wax, tweeze, or bleach between laser hair removal treatments
Normally yes. Some hairs will require several treatments to cauterize the blood capillaries.
Over time you will notice that there is less hair, less texture to the hair, and more time in between the treatments.
No, laser hair removal does not stimulate new hair growth. Hair growth is a result of a variety of bodily processes.
